The movie showcases the life and day to day activities of ancient times and also revolves around a story of a peasant (Hrithik) who falls in love with a Princess (Pooja). Mohenjo Daro, starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde is a period drama based on ancient Indian civilization, which the whole country feels proud about. Overall, Mohenjo Daro is an extremely disappointing movie and wasted potential. The last 30 minutes of the movie are a complete awful shoehorned in subplot trying to make Hrithik's character looking like Noah and Moses. Kabir Bedi as the villain is pretty disposable but his character's son is even worse. The plot is so muddled and somewhere in there is a good movie with a good story. There's so many story-lines that are left hanging by the end of the film. My biggest problem with the film is that it doesn't know what kind of movie it wants to be. Rahman's music is phenomenal and certain action scenes were done well. Pooja Hegde is good as the female lead and I can see her as a future Bollywood star. Hrithik Roshan is great in this role and by far the best part of the movie. Even though it's directed by the great Ashutosh Gowariker, it has so many problems that make it a very disappointing movie.Īs always, I'll start with the positives. 6)Something to laugh about- our hero Hrithik wrestles a rubber crocodile. These are all traits the actor displayed in his debut film, 'Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai', and which remain unchanged 16 years. His cheeks shake when he's angry, and his voice becomes ever more pronounced while expressing rage. Same ol lean muscles, same hair style n same accent. He has been the same in every character he has played in each of his films. 4)The story is set in 2016 BC, thousands of years prior before the world's first gymnasium was invented. 3)Majority of historians agree that females had bangles all the way up their arms and nothing else on bodies. Her thigh-high slit skirt is straight from the red carpet. With her headdress, she looks more like Santanico pandemonium from Dusk till dawn. 3)Lead actress is tribal only in her headdress. Nicely trimmed sideburns, hair n moustaches. 2)Characters seem to have found razors n scissors. I will not get much into historical inaccuracies but jus a few laughable inaccuracies. We come to know that the city is ruled by a tyrant n his son is engaged to the same girl.ġ)Puzzling why this film is set in the Indus Valley Civilization, given the alarming lack of attention to detail. He then must challenge and fight against overwhelming odds. Same ol story, A simple farmer who saves a beautiful girl and falls in love with her.
